Announcements

• Alex Garcia has left from the position as District Executive,
  • Brian McGuire, the Director of Field Services,  has identified a candidate.  He is a past professional in Huston whom Brian has worked with before.
• Rudy Gonzalez has ended his tenure as Field Director for the West Service Area.
  • Mark Manchester was the interim replacement, but will be moving to be the Field Director for the Redwood Empire Service Area.
  • Jeff Smith will be the new Field Director for the West Service Area, he is currently Field Director for the Redwood Empire Service Area .  
• Upcoming Meetings
  • The next DOC meeting will be Dec 4th at the Joaquin Miller Community Center as the room has become available.
  • The Annual District Business Meeting and DOC meeting will be Jan 8th, 2026 at the Joaquin Miller Community Center.  This will include discussing the budget and election of District Officers.

Finance

• Council is running a $1.8 million deficit.  This is mostly due to low summer camp attendance.
• Friends of Scouting
  • Family FOS campaign 131.00% of goal
  • Community FOS campaign 136.00% of goal
  • Overall 133.27% of goal

Membership

• Current Month 2025 1396 Youth Members 61 Units
• End of Month 2024 1426 Youth Members 58 Units
• End of Year 2024 1436 Youth Members 59 Units

Scouting For Food

• Castro Valley:  Site is confirmed.  Need to confirm that a truck will be available.
• Alameda: Need to confirm that a truck will be available.
• Oakland: Need helpers to man drop off site from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

Renewal Fee

• Effective Nov 15, 2025
  • Council youth fee will increase from $71 to $149
  • Council adult fee will increase from $46 to $99
• Details on discounts and financial assistance will be forthcoming before the official change.
• Renewals before Nov 15, 2025 will be at the current fee rates.

Camping Committee

• OA Villages continue to work on the camporee program.
• The district still needs a Camporee Chair, and Camporee committee members.

Nominating Committee

• Chris Dempsey is a potential candidate for District Chair.
• Charles Howard-Gibbons has joined the Nominating Committee assisting Mark Frey.

Remembrance

• A moment of silence was observed in memory of Tom Preston.
